Esta admirable mezzosoprano irlandesa, considerada internacionalmente como una de las cantantes händelianas más refinadas de la actualidad, trabajó su voz a los quince años con la más eminente profesora de canto irlandesa, la Dra Veronica Dunne, en el College of Music de Dublín, su ciudad natal.

A los dieciocho años se convirtió en la más joven ganadora del concurso Cardiff Singer of the World. A partir de ese momento ha colaborado con destacados directores musicales, como René Jacobs, Antonio Pappano, Zubin Mehta, Claudio Abbado, William Christie y Bernard Haitink, entre otros, y se ha presentado en prestigiosos teatros de ópera, tales como La Monnaie de Bruselas (La Cenerentola), Staatsoper de Hamburgo (Carmen), Ópera de París (Adriana Mater), y la Staasoper de Berlín (Il ritorno de Ulisse in patria).
Considerada unánimamente por la crítica como una de las cantantes händelianas más refinadas de la actualidad, ha cantado Orlando en Nueva York, Lyon, Amberes, París y Gante, Giulio Cesare (Cornelia) en Múnich, Dresde, Montpellier, Nueva York (en el Met) y en el Festival de Glyndebourne, haciendo su debut en Barcelona en el papel titular de esta misma ópera. Del mismo compositor ha cantado Xerxes (Amastre) en Múnich, el papel titular de Tamerlano en el Festival de Beaume y el de Andronico en la Ópera de Ámsterdam. Debutó en la Ópera de Chicago como Rosmira (Partenope) y en la English National Opera como Polinesso (Ariodante); en el Festival de Drottningholm interpretó Bradamante y en Trieste el papel de Ruggiero, ambos de la ópera Alcina. Ha sido artista invitada en el Palacio de Buckingham para la celebración del 50 cumpleaños de el Príncipe Carlos.

Dublin-born mezzo-soprano, Patricia Bardon is internationally renowned as a versatile operatic and concert performer.
Educated at a convent school, Patricia studied at the Royal College of Music in Dublin. When she was 15 she was given the opportunity to have a consultation lesson with Ireland's most eminent singing teacher, Dr Veronica Dunne. At the age of 18, she was entered as Ireland's representative in the very first Cardiff Singer of the World Competition and was the youngest ever prizewinner.
She has sung in concerts and recitals throughout Europe, in the United States and Japan, and has appeared with conductors such as Zubin Meha, Bernard Haitink, Claudio Abbado, Antonia Pappano, and Sir Charles Mackerras. She was also invited to sing at Buckingham Palace during a concert celebrating the fiftieth birthday of Prince Charles.
With a voice of unusually wide range and flexibility, Patricia's repertoire spans roles from Giulio Cesare, Orlando and Alcina, through Semiramide, Tancredi, Carmen, Il Trovatore and Das Rheingold. In 2006, she will be be performing at the Paris Opera, at Bastille, in the title role of Adriana Mater by the Finnish female composer, Kaija Saariaho.

Dublin-born Patricia Bardon studied with Dr Veronica Dunne at the city’s College of Music and came to early prominence as the youngest ever prize-winner in the Cardiff Singer of the World Competition. She has since become established internationally as an operatic and concert force and has worked with many of today’s pre-eminent conductors including Mehta, Haitink, Abbado, Rizzi, Pappano, Jacobs, Eschenbach, Christie and Minkowski.
Patricia Bardon’s unique vocal range and versatility have allowed her to explore a diverse operatic repertoire spanning Monteverdi, Handel and Gluck through Rossini, Bizet and Verdi.
Highlights include Tancredi and Arsace/Semiramide at La Fenice in Venice; La Cenerentola at La Monnaie and in Lausanne; Carmen at Hamburg’s Staatsoper, for WNO and Scottish Opera; Bizet’s Djamileh with Opera North; Anna/Les Troyens in Florence as part of the Maggio Musicale as well as Penelope/Il Ritorno d’Ulisse in Patria also in Florence, Athens and at Berlin’s Staatsoper, Maria/Mose in Egitto, Edwige/William Tell and Maddelena/Rigoletto at the ROH Covent Garden, Smeaton/Anna Bolena at San Francisco Opera, Azucena/Il trovatore at Welsh National Opera, and Erda in both Das Rheingold and Siegfried in ENO’s Ring Cycle. The 2005-2006 season saw Patricia’s house debut at the Opera National de Paris in the title role of Kaija Saariaho’s Adriana Mater, conducted by Esa-Pekka Salonen and in a new production by Peter Sellars.
Noted as one of Europe’s finest Handelians, Patricia Bardon has been heard as Orlando in New York, Paris, Lyon and Antwerp; as Cornelia in Munich, Chicago Lyric Opera and in the McVicar production at the Glyndebourne Festival (recorded for DVD); she returned to Munich as Amastre/Xerxes, a role also performed in Montepellier (recorded for DVD), and at the Beaune Festival sang title role Tamerlano. In Alcina, Patricia has sung both Bradamante at the Drottningholm Festival and Ruggiero in Montpellier and Trieste. Marking her role debut, Patricia appeared at the Gran Teatro del Liceu in Barcelona as Giulio Cesare, made her debut at Chicago’s Lyric Opera as Rosmira/Partenope, sang Andronico/Tamerlano at De Nederlandse Opera and Polinesso/Ariodante and Juno/Semele at ENO.
Patricia Bardon’s 2006/2007 debut at New York’s Metropolitan Opera as Cornelia was met with unanimous critical and audience acclaim.
Equally successful as a concert singer she has a diverse repertoire which includes the Mahler Symphonies, Rossini’s Stabat Mater, Verdi's Requiem and the Bach Passions with Orchestras such as The New York Philharmonic, Concertgebouw Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic,Orchestre de Paris, OAE, Philharmonia, Freiburg Baroque Orchestra, Berlin Academie, Les Arts Florissants,St Louis Symphony and the Orchestra of La Scala Milan. Last season Patricia appeared at the First Night of the Proms, broadcast live on TV and Radio , with the BBC Symphony Orchestra/Jiri Behlolavek.
Patricia Bardon’s discography to date includes Orlando (Erato), Elijah (Decca), Eugene Onegin (EMI), Xerxes in a live recording with Munich’s Staatsoper, Rigoletto (Teldec), Carmen and Flying Dutchman (Chandos), Messiah (Erato DVD), and most recently Arianna et Barbe Bleue (Telarc) and Malcolm in Rossini’s Donna del Lago recorded live from performances at the Edinburgh International Festival (Opera Rara).
The current season takes Patricia Bardon to Amsterdam (Ulisse), Chicago (Giulio Cesare), Madrid and Washington (Tamerlano) and Covent Garden (Rake’s Progress) as well as featuring her Wigmore Hall recital debut.
